GESLAAGDE OPENING KISOBOKA CENTRE

Niemand had het verwacht, maar het gebeurde toch: we begonnen op tijd!

We waren er een uur eerder en zagen dat ze de tenten nog moesten opzetten, dus dachten ‘dat gaat nooit goed’, maar ze stonden er voor de eerste gasten aankwamen.

De Ambassadeur, vergezeld door zijn vrouw, was op tijd en werd feestelijk ingehaald door de Mbiko brassband. In optocht naar het centrum, waar de Ambassadeur het lint doorknipte en de ceremonie kon beginnen.

Eerste de drie volksliederen( Uganda, Busoga en Nederland) begeleid door de band en het hijsen van de 3 vlaggen en daarna behoorlijk wat speeches, maar dat hoort er hier bij.

Tusendoor optredens van de verschillende dorpen en dat maakte de ceremonie erg feestelijk. De voorzitter van Bulikimu KisoBOKa vertelde wat de NGO precies doet en Willem vertelde wat de functie is van het nieuwe centrum is. Hij bedankt de Ambassadeur en zijn vrouw voor hun komst en ook de delegatie uit Kenia. Hij bedankte alle fondsen uit Nederland en iedereen die aan de bouw heeft meegewerkt. Hij kondigde aan dat alle dorpen twee geiten zouden krijgen en overhandigde een scrab-art ‘askari’(wachter) aan de Ambassadeur om de Ambassade te bewaken.

De ambassadeur benadrukte in zijn speeche de waarde van educatie en daarvoor nu een schitterend centrum beschikbaar was. Hij onthulde de ínauguration-stone’ en maakte vervolgens een tour  door het centrum.

Na het spelen van opnieuw het ‘Wilhelmus’, verliet de Ambassadeur het Centrum, want hij had nog een vergadering in Kampala.

Nog meer speeches en dansen maar alles bleef redelijk binnen het tijdschema. Alleen de catering was te laat, waardoor de hele ceremonie toch een uur uitliep. Maar de lunch was uitstekend en dat maakte een hoop goed.

We kijken terug op een zeer geslaagde dag.

No one had expected, but it happened: we started on time!

We were there an hour earlier and saw that they still had to set up the tents so thought ‘that never goes well’, but they were set up as the first guests arrived.

The Ambassador, accompanied by his wife, was on time and was feasted by the Mbiko brass band. In procession to the center, where the Ambassador cut the ribbon and the ceremony could start.

First, the three national anthems (Uganda, Busoga and the Netherlands) accompanied by the band and the hoisting of the three flags and then a lot of speeches, but that part of it here.

Interstate through performances of the various villages and that made the ceremony very festive. The chairman of Bulikimu KisoBOKa told what the NGO exactly does and William told what the function of the new center is . He thanked the Ambassador and his wife for their attendance and also the delegation from Kenya. He thanked all the funds from the Netherlands and everyone who has participated in the construction. He announced that all the villages would get two goats and handed a scrap-art ‘askari’ (guard) to the Ambassador to guard the Embassy.

The ambassador stressed in his speech the value of education and therefore an incredible facility was available now. He unveiled the inauguration-stone and then made a tour of the center.

After playing back the “Wilhelmus”,(the Dutch national anthem)  the Ambassador left the Centre, because he had a meeting in Kampala.

More speeches and dancing, but everything remained within reasonable timeframes. Only the catering was late, so the whole ceremony still walked out of an hour. But the lunch was excellent and that made a lot of good.

We look back on a very successful day.
